Startup to Success: 3 Hairstylist Salon Studio Stories

Renting a salon suite offers many benefits such as the ability to design and create a your own vibe for your business.

Hairstylist salon studios offer unique settings where individual creativity and community thrive. They’re where like-minded beauty professionals come together to create a dynamic network. They’re also a private and supportive space where each artist can add their unique mark.

At Salon Republic, our culture is one of both support and sharing. But don’t just take our word for it. Here are three unique salon suite stories straight from our very own salon studio spaces.

Dasi B is an independent hairstylist known for her stunning extension transformations.

Salon Studio Rental Success Story #1: Dasi B, Master Extensionist & Educator

Dasi B has over 20 years of experience in the beauty industry. She’s best known for her stunning extension and color transformations. A salon suite rental has taken away the time-consuming details of running a business. This has let her focus on her craft.

“People ask me if this is a stepping stone to opening my own salon, and I’m like, no, this is it,” Dasi says. “I don’t want to have a freestanding salon unit that I have to be responsible for and worry about electricity and water and 10 hairstylists and all of that drama. It’s really nice to have that relationship and experience be about your client and not have to worry about all these other dynamics.”

That client focus has led Dasi B to become a true artist in extensions, cutting, coloring, and styling — connecting with her clientele and creating incredible results that boost their confidence and personal sense of style.

It’s led her to branch out as a hair extension educator — taking her passion and knowledge to salons nationwide. She’s also created hair extension workshops to share signature techniques with other stylists. Her work has been featured in Elle, Maxim, People, InStyle, and Astonish Magazine.

Lyric the owner & CEO of Locs by Lyric. She rents a hairstylist salon studio at Salon Republic Torrance.

Salon Studio Rental Success Story #2: Locs by Lyric, Self-Made Loctician & Entrepreneur

Lyric is the owner and successful CEO of Locs by Lyric. Well-versed in multiple techniques to start, maintain, and repair locs, Lyric has been a loctician for six years. This focus has led her to specialize in everything from crochet maintenance and interlocking to loc detoxes and bleach/color.

Recently, Lyric has ventured into her own studio space, renting a private suite at Salon Republic. “This has been amazing because I finally have the support I’ve been needing to be able to just focus on my craft,” she says. “Being at Salon Republic has really shown me what’s possible with my journey as a loctician and business owner.”

Lyric’s genuine passion for locs inspired her to create a natural hair care line with ingredients free of alcohol, sulfates, and parabens. She also leads in-person and virtual classes so other budding locticians can learn, create, and elevate their skills.

Having this space and independence has led Lyric to dream and act big. “It really reminds me every day that I step in here that truly the sky’s the limit,” she says. “My only regret is that I didn’t come here sooner, but I’m definitely enjoying the freedom to focus on my craft and do the best locs I can.”

Philip Wolff is an independent hairstylist, educator, and brand ambassador. He rents a salon studio at Salon Republic Beverly Hills.

Salon Studio Rental Success Story #3: Philip Wolff, Hair Artist, Global Ambassador & International Educator

“If I want to paint the walls, I can paint the walls,” he says. “I can put any type of station or lighting I want in there.”

His salon suite rental has also been the perfect blend of content studio and private salon.

“I use it for filming content, as well as taking some appointments,” he says. “It’s kind of a dual operation there, which is amazing for me.”

Philip also appreciates the autonomy that a salon suite rental brings.

“I was at a point in my career where I felt like I really needed a space of my own without the overhead of a full-fledged salon,” he says. “I needed something a little more private, a little more independent.”

With that independence has come 24/7 access and a flexible schedule.

“I can choose when I want to come in, when I want to leave, how long I want to stay, and how short I want to stay,” Philip says. “Everything’s up to me, and that’s what I really like.”

Along with the on-site beauty supply and towel service, one of the things Philip loves at his Salon Republic suite is being surrounded by like-minded beauty pros in a creative and supportive environment.

“Let’s face it — when it comes to working, we all definitely want to have a happy place to be at, a positive vibe, and that’s exactly what it is for me.”

When he’s not creating new content and servicing his loyal clientele at his private studio suite in Beverly Hills, Philip can be found sharing his passion with the hair industry. Through social media and traveling the world, he continues to bring education and heart back to the hands of the artists.

“Even if we don’t speak the language of each other, through hair and education, there’s still somehow this great communication,” he says.

Book a Private Tour at a Salon Republic Studio Near You

If you’ve been thinking about renting a hairstylist salon studio of your own but still have questions, booking a private tour at Salon Republic is the best next step for your future success. In fact, that’s what Philip Wolff did.

“Aside from the general idea [of a salon suite rental], I didn’t really know everything that was included or what that even looked like,” he says. “So I went ahead and booked a private tour, and that was the best thing I could have done because it answered everything I needed to know.”
